Pretty Shiny Things

Pretty Shiny ThingsI like jewelry. This fact about me is ironic because I don’t wear that much jewelry. But I like it — I like looking at it and I like the way it looks.

About a year ago, I took a jewelry making class, mostly so I could get out of the house more. It was great fun, and it helped me to truly appreciate what goes into a piece of jewelry. It’s art and engineering put together.

My sister sent me this large piece of purple fluorite for my birthday, which I turned into a pendant with some clumsy organic wire twisting. I love it. Fluorite is supposed to have healing and calming powers, something that I could use in my life right now.
